When our clients reached out to us to design their four-bedroom home in Eddington, a prestigious new-build area on the edge of Cambridge, we knew this project would be something special. Eddington is known for its contemporary architecture and thoughtfully planned spaces but, as with many new-builds, this home began as a beautiful yet blank canvas: bright, white, and waiting to be infused with warmth, personality, and soul.

As with every project, our journey began with a conversation. We believe great design starts with understanding how a family lives, what they love, and what makes their daily moments flow with ease. This family, with their new baby, dreamed of a home that would be safe, serene, and effortlessly stylish. They wanted the calm of natural materials, the comfort of well-crafted details, and the quiet luxury of spaces that feel as good as they look.

From the outset, practical beauty became our guiding principle. Every piece of furniture, every fabric, and every finish was chosen not just for its aesthetic appeal, but for its resilience and ease of maintenance. Soft furnishings were treated with fabric protection to ensure longevity because a truly beautiful home should remain that way, even with little hands exploring every corner.

We introduced a palette inspired by the natural world: earthy neutrals, soft stones, muted greens, and warm wood tones, creating harmony throughout the home. Texture played a central role, linen, boucle, timber, and wool layered to transform the once-sterile shell into a space that feels deeply inviting.

Beyond the interiors, we extended the same thoughtfulness to the roof terrace and garden, designing calm outdoor sanctuaries for relaxation and play. Privacy was key, so we selected evergreen plants that thrive year-round offering lush greenery in summer and shelter in winter, ensuring the outdoor spaces feel alive in every season.

To complete the story, art became an essential layer of the design. Large-scale artworks bring vibrancy, emotion, and a sense of individuality to the home. Each piece adds depth, colour, light and warmth, a gentle reminder that color can exist within a neutral scheme when it’s handled with intention. Paintings were created by Alicia Zimnickas, founder of AZ Interiors Studio, whose expressive use of light and texture adds a distinctly personal touch. Some works were even commissioned specifically for the home, perfectly sized for the landings and transitional spaces, turning every view into a curated moment.

The finished home reflects exactly what we set out to achieve: a natural, timeless, and luxurious sanctuary, tailored to the rhythm of family life. It is elegant yet approachable, contemporary yet full of soul, a space where design and daily living exist in perfect harmony.
